Mike Gilbert

Mike is currently in his 16th year of coaching all levels of amateur baseball and in his sixth year of private hitting and catching instruction.  He has worked with and developed players of all ages from Little League to College.

During Coach Gilbert’s playing career he earned a Varsity letter from Saucon Valley High School as a sophomore starting at both 3rd and 1st base.  He was awarded Colonial League Honorable Mention in his junior year as a catcher, batting over .400 and throwing out close to 60% of base runners. He was a 1st team catcher in the Colonial League his Senior year while leading his team to the first District Championship in the school’s history.  That year he was also invited to play in the Keystone Games.

After High School he attended Keystone Junior College and became the starting 2nd baseman in the fall season as a freshman.  In the spring he moved back behind the plate and started half of the season there and the other half again at 2nd base enjoying a respectable freshman year.

In 2009 Mike started working as a professional baseball coach for LVBA.  Since then he has been the one of the busiest instructors in the Academy.  In 2010 while working as a tournament team director he was successful in establishing and developing three different teams and guiding them through the entire spring, summer, and fall schedules.  During his time with LVBA he has worked with all teams from 10U to 18U in addition to acting as the Winter Workout director.  For two years he worked as the State Sectional Coordinator for the USA Baseball’s North Atlantic region.  He was directly responsible for all aspects of the selection process through three rounds of evaluations culminating in a trip to the USA National Training Complex in Cary, N.C., where he accompanied players who were competing for a spot on the USA National Team.

“I believe strongly in the mental approach and give it almost as much attention as I do the physical, and that has brought me and my players great success.”

Mike is available for all of your hitting and catching needs.
